The surfers of California wanted something to do when the waves were flat, so they invented sidewalk surfing. They created a surfboard with wheels and started to use them in dried-out pools and parking lots. This evolved into the sport we now know as skating. However, it developed into something much bigger than just a sport. It has become more of a lifestyle, a lifestyle with a huge impact on everything from streetwear to art to music, it has even created subcultures. Maybe this is proof that we should try something new sometimes - what if it turned out better than we imagined?
