Atelier Affiche

The cafés stayed lit until dawn. The theatres were full every night. In the streets — wine and music and rain, and the smell of something about to happen. Artists from every corner of the world were flooding into Paris. People dressed as though the whole city were watching.

그 시절 파리의 카페들은 새벽이 되도록 불을 끄지 않았다고 한다. 극장은 밤마다 사람들로 미어졌고, 비에 젖은 돌길 위로는 와인 냄새와 음악이 뒤섞여 흘렀다. 무언가 좋은 일이 곧 일어날 것만 같은 예감으로 도시 전체가 은근히 들떠 있던 시절이었다. 세계 방방곡곡에서 예술가들이 그 들뜬 공기를 좇아 파리로 모여들었고, 사람들은 온 도시가 저를 지켜보기라도 하는 양 한껏 차려입고 거리로 나섰다.

And on every corner, on every wall — posters that stopped people where they stood.

그리고 길모퉁이마다, 담벼락마다, 바삐 가던 발걸음을 우뚝 멈춰 세우는 포스터들이 나붙어 있었다.
